About me

My name is Anouk van der Linde, and I have worked as a certified teacher of Dutch as a second language (NT2) since 2011. I have taught expats preparing for the Dutch civic integration exam, as well as expats and students at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I find it greatly rewarding to help my students from all over the world join in the language and culture of their new home, the Netherlands! Each course and each student differs, and it is this challenge that keeps me always searching for new and better ways of helping my students learn Dutch!

Before I began working with expats learning Dutch, I studied English Literature and Linguistics at Leiden University. After my graduation I worked for a publishing firm for a couple of years and I was an English teacher at various secondary schools. Having worked abroad as an English teacher in Ankara, Turkey, I can relate to my students who are struggling to adjust to living in a new country without speaking the language!

I live in Alphen aan den Rijn, a beautiful town situated in the “Green Heart” of the Netherlands. I am married and I have two children, plus our dog, George. My hobbies are reading, hockey, watching films, and enjoying all the nature on my doorstep that I get by living outside of the big city!

The motto of Active Dutch, “learning Dutch with a personal touch”, means a lot to me. I am a one-woman operation, and I am here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to getting to know you!
